Director Hemant Madhukar’s ambitious indie horror-thriller Silence finally got underway in

on Friday. “We were supposed to start filming in March but Anushka (Shetty) had issues with her visa,” says the 41-year-old, speaking to Hyderabad Times after wrapping up day one of shooting. Madhavan and Anushka are headlining the multi-lingual film touted to be Hollywood star Michael Madsen’s Tollywood debut. Hemant is reluctant to reveal anything about Madsen’s character, but he shared some details about the plot of the horror-thriller.

“The story is set entirely in the US. Madhavan plays a star cello player, who’s very suave and sophisticated. And as for Anushka...let’s just say she plays an art lover. And no, they do not have a romantic track, as is being speculated,” says Hemant, who earlier directed films like Mumbai 125 Km 3D,

Vastadu Naa Raju

and A Flat. As many as 41 international actors are part of this film, which also features Telugu artistes like Anjali, Srinivas Avasarala and Subbaraju. “Every character brings something new to the table and each of them is crucial to the plot. Nobody will know what the other is up to,there will constant twists and turns that will keep the audience guessing all through,” he says, signing off.
