Laxman Aelay treats art lovers to a fine show on handlooms

City’s art lovers got to witness the beauty of handloom weaves and the lives of Telangana weavers, thanks to an exhibition by acclaimed Hyderabadi artist Laxman Aelay.

Madhapur

, it showcased 50 black and white sketches and installations that gave viewers an indepth understanding of what goes into weaving an Ikkat fabric.




The exhibition was inaugurated by Chintakandi

Mallesham

, the man who innovated the

revolutionary

Laxmi Asu machine to ease the taxing manual process of weaving handloom sarees, thus benefiting the weavers in Pochampally.

The installations included miniature maggam and threads that are used for weaving.

The do also featured a fashion show where guests walked the ramp donning weaves, jewellry and accessories prepared from Ikkat.


The evening ended with guests bonding over high tea and discussing topics revolving around sustainable fashion.
