If Sheilas and Munnis ruled last year, this year it was “Kolaveri Di” that reigned supreme at the Clear & Clear Hyderabad Times Fresh Face 2011.
The event kick started with a bang at Aurora’s Degree College on Thursday. Even before the judge for the day, actor Harshvardhan Rane, walked in, students were all set to take to the stage. And as soon as he came, there were loud cheers to welcome him. After a perfect start with a prayer, students were quick to shift gears to some Hip-Hop and stunts as their college group Black Playerz upped the standards for the rest to come. Well, the following participants did just that — be it Sharad’s moonwalk, T Naidu’s matchbox stint of lighting matches and putting them out with his tongue, Rahul and Satya’s tile-breaking skills, or Yashwant’s rendition of “Kolaveri Di”. No sooner did he start than the crowd sang along. What, however, had the audience in splits was Navneet’s one-minute talk on ‘cow’. As he voiced his wish to be given a topic to speak on, Harsh said, “Your topic is cow.” Navneet went on to say, “Cow gives milk, we should worship cow...”
The Clean & Clear Hyderabad Times Fresh Face 2011 at this college witnessed some unusual talent as well. Divya Anjali set the stage on fire with her latkas and jhatkas dancing to the famous Madhuri Dixit number “Aajaa Nach Le”. Undoubtedly, she emerged the winner. Thakur Tuljaram, on the other hand, B-Boyed his way to the number one spot among the boys. Prem Prajapati did more than 40 pushups in less than two minutes that made him the 2nd runner-up. And joining him for the same title was Komal Mehta with her imitation of Kareena Kapoor in “Jab We Met”. K Bhavna with her semi-classical dance number, and Merchant Naved with his striking good looks and a stylish ramp walk, together bagged the 1st runners-up title.
Judge Harshvardhan enjoyed every performance and wished the winners all the very best for the second round of competition.
