Festival with a difference!

On day one, renowned tabla artistes Ustad Zakir Hussain, Ustad Sultan Khan and son Sabir Ali performed. Tabla and sarangi jugal bandi kept the audience enthralled even though Zakir didn’t seem to be in a great mood that evening.The three-day festival also saw the likes of Pandit Birju Maharaj and ghazal maestro Jagjit Singh. The audience was also treated to a dance ballet by Dr Ananda Shankar Jayant and her troupe.
Among the audience spotted Utpal Sengupta, Jayesh Ranjan, Raymond Peters, Mohammed Ali Baig, Arthi Veer and others.
HEARD: Zakir Hussain snap to the usher: "If you step on to the stage again, mere table bhi leke jaana. This (interruption) is going to disconnect the artistes from the audience.”
