Doctor’s Dilemma
Dramatic Circle Hyderabad staged the British play Habeas Corpus, which saw a near full house turnout.
It was nice to catch familiar faces from the city getting into the roles of the very-British characters for a very British play.
Among the very noticeable were Sampada Harkara who played Connie Wicksteed, a flat-chested spinster, being courted by the vicar; Simran Sinh, played the glamourous, pregnant Felicity Rumpers, Ananda Shankar Jayant, the housekeeper Mrs Swabb, and Dr Authur Wicksteed played by Vijay Marur.
The story revolves around the Wicksteed family and their pursuit of extra marital affairs. The upside was the homely ambience and comic mood of the play, and the downside was the duration -- two and half hours!
Mani Shanker, Aparajita Sinha, Shivali, Rasna Bhusan, Shankar Melkote, and others were spotted in the audience.
