Gayathri began the concert with Dr Balamuralikrishna’s Gana Sudha Rasa, followed by Bhadrachala Ramadasar’s Nanu BravoMani and

Saint Tyagaraja

’s Nagumomo. Alapana of

Annamacharya

’s Paramapurusha, Roopagam and

Bhavayami Gopalabalam

struck a chord with the audience. Then came some brilliant recitals of Muthuswamy Dikshitar’s Kailasanathena and

Muthiah Bhagavatar

’s Andavan Darishaname.

Before concluding with Balamuralikrishna’s thillana, Gayathri also rendered Swati Tirunal’s Sankara Sri Giri Natha, which was received with a thunderous applause from the audience. “Hyderabadi audience are always very responsive and appreciative. It’s always a pleasure to be in Hyderabad,” said Gayathri, after the concert.
