The Times Hyderabad Festival continued on Tuesday at Shilpakala Vedika with the play “Tumhari Amrita” directed by Feroz Abbas Khan. Audience flocked to the venue to catch the much-awaited play. Shabana Azmi and Farooq Sheikh, engrossed the audience into lives of the characters Amrita and Zulfi. The audience was lively and enjoyed the chemistry between the emotionally rooted characters.
The presentation of snail paced mailing of yesteryears to the younger audience was definitely enchanting and fascinating.
The well-timed comic touch to the script penned by Javed Siddiqui was brilliant and got the audience laughing. The classic love story scripted in letters; the reflections of a woman surrounded by various social pressures and a man who is heir to the political domain donned to be mettle of pathfinder for others in the community were focused by the two actors who held the stage with much elegance without any other accompaniment. The 90-minutes play received a standing ovation as it came to an end.
