While the world was done with World Music Day celebrations on 21st June, Hyderabad decided to take it a notch up over the weekend, with the greatest ever celebration of music roping in 20 venues and 250 artists to give an ode to music. At the Alliance Francaise Hyderabad, the stage was specially set up for youngsters and newcomers to perform.
Many participants joined in the fun with 'Strings and Tunes' playing the western classical, Broadway & Pop music, Sufi, French/ English/ Hindi vocal and piano in the first half.
A special entrant was also the Bengali folk instrument called
dotara, khamak
with which a band played the tune of
Rabindranath Tagore, Kabir, Lalon( Pioneer of Baul music), Bulleh Shah( Sufi medley).

For the second half, the maestros took over. For playing the Abhang, on vocals was - Prafulla Sundarand with Violin was Sai Kolanka, Tabla – M.S.Pavan Kumar, Mridangam - Dr.R.Ravindra Tejasvi, Ghatam – Koundinya. This number truly lifted the spirits of the audience.
