The halls of Gitam University reverberated with laughter as students dressed in their colourful best to celebrate Ethnic Day on campus recently.
It was a sight to behold as students and teachers flaunted attires that represented the tradition of their respective hometowns. From Bengali sarees, Pathani suits to half-sarees and South Indian dhotis and kurtas, it was a celebration of the country’s unity in diversity.
That’s not all. The participants also shared the stories behind the attires they were wearing, hence giving a deeper insight into their respective culture and traditions.
For those who were staying away from home, the Ethnic Day made them miss home. “There are times when I get really homesick and miss my family.
Wearing something that represents my hometown on Ethnic Day made me feel really nostalgic,” shares Parth Rawat from Delhi, who wore a black Pathani suit.
After clicking selfies in their colourful outfits, the students also indulged in some fun and games.
