There are reels trending on Instagram where fans start their videos with a concert backdrop and the caption, “Cigarettes After What?” before revealing the magic of the pop band on stage. That’s exactly what fans of Cigarettes After Sex (CAS) witnessed when the band performed in Gurgaon on Friday. With monochrome lights, fans dressed in all black, an unsaid rule at their concerts, and the band’s signature dream-like style – the Backyard Sports Club in Gurgaon mirrored the aesthetics that the dream pop band is best known for.
“This is our first show in Gurgaon, thank you for coming out,” said Greg Gonzalez, the lead vocalist and guitarist. There was no dancing or running to find a spot, just fans singing and swaying along the band. at the show that was curated by BookMyShow Live.
As soon as the band cued up Apocalypse, phone flashlights and cameras were out to capture the dream-like aesthetic. “We love you so much, thank you for sharing this time with us,” Greg said before singing the song. While the band members did not interact too much with the audience – something expected from them – Greg gave away his guitar picks to a few lucky members of the audience and the setlist before concluding the performance with Opera House.
