Diwali flea market at Gurgaon's Galleria draws shoppers
The crowds are returning to the markets in the festive season after a lukewarm Diwali last year because of the pandemic. As city markets get filled to the brim, many old favourites of Gurgaon shoppers are returning too. Among them is the Diwali
The most popular items, like each year, are lights, decorative diyas and candle holders, and even small gift items like gift boxes and bone china crockery. Among the newer popular gifts this year are indoor and outdoor potted plants. "It is something different and new and shows that someone made efforts to choose a gift, not the run-of-the-mill mithai box or gift hamper," says Tushant Singh, who bought small potted plants as Diwali gifts for his near ones over the weekend. These plants are available for anything between Rs 150-1000 each, depending upon size and variety.
Aside from the Diwali shopping, many took the opportunity to restock their winter wardrobe too, with stoles, mufflers, jackets and other such clothes available at the market. "This place has variety," says Sagarika, who came with her family to shop on Sunday evening, "And even if the prices are slightly higher than some of the Delhi markets, the quality makes up for it. It's always a good option for festive or winter shopping."
