Many from the fashion fraternity and regulars from the city’s social circuit attended the launch of an art show, Voices Of The Subcontinent, in the capital recently.
The artist, Bahaar Dhawan Rohatgi, was accompanied by her family, including father-in-law Mukul Rohatgi, the attorney general, and husband Nikhil. She was heard giving all the guests a tour of the venue, explaining the different works put up tastefully across the room.

This guest list featured some recognised names from the Delhi circuit – solicitor general Ranjit Kumar, Anju Modi, Pinky Anand, Feroze and Mohit Gujral, FDCI president Sunil Sethi and Akhil and Shivani Sibal. The exhibition also featured the works of Kolkata-based artist Seemita Roi and Pakistani veterans like Eqbal Mehdi and Jamil Naqsh. Speaking to us about her work, Bahaar, who is a lawyer by profession, said, “I’m like the owl I’ve painted and put up at the entrance – I’m a lawyer by day and artist by night. I have always been into painting, but I recently had a self-discovery phase, and my paintings clearly reveal that.” Sunil Sethi added, “I have always known Bahaar as a lawyer, so her artistic skills came a complete surprise to me, and what a good one at that!”
splash of colour: We also met Naval Chopra, a lawyer who works with Bahaar, who told us, “I was the first one to buy her painting two years ago. She can really multitask, and her paintings are very colourful, which I think reflects her life as a lawyer – you meet so many different types of people.” Also present from among Bahaar’s family were her brother-in-law Sameer, mom Raksha Dhawan and sister Nikhaar.
