Vigilant Drishti lifeguard save 25-year-old from suicide in Baina

It seemed like a scene from a movie when a young male in waist-deep water pulled out a knife and threatened to end his life. A vigilant

beach and calmed the troubled male and brought him back to shore.

Drishti’s lifesaver Ramesh averted a suicide at Baina, when he spotted a 25-year-old male from Orissa entering the water. Noticing that something may be amiss the lifesaver followed the victim. When the victim reached waist level into the water, the lifesaver called out to him asking him to return to shore. He refused to do so and instead took out a knife from his pocket and threatened to harm himself. The vigilant lifesaver spoke to him calmly and calmed him down. He approached him carefully and convinced him to return to the shore while taking the weapon from his hands so that he doesn't harm himself. On return to the shore, the male was handed over to the police for assistance.

In the year 2021, Goa witnessed 17 cases where Drishti lifesavers averted and stopped attempted suicides.
