Telugu actor Ester Noronha debuts in Konkani tiatr

Ester Noronha from the South India film fraternity, has always been vocal about her love of Konkani and this year she decided to debut in a Goan Konkani tiatr - Mhoji Khori Maim, which released last week. Talking to Goa Times, Ester is all giggles as she gets to spend more time in Goa and has also won the hearts of many in the tiatr fraternity.

“This is the first time that I got into the tiatr industry and love that I received from the fans is amazing,” says Ester who plays the lead role in the tiatr, which is a quest of finding the mother. “My role is very interesting where I’m the chirpy, bubbly character from Mangalore. I was amazed to see how the audience has accepted me and my role. I was wary of that initially.”

As she tells us the story of how she landed up here, she said she made the best choice. “I got a call from an unknown number, and I didn’t answer it the first two times. Later I got some messages that director Broyan Jonita Fernandes was trying to reach me for a role in tiatr. I have sung on tiatr stage before, but not acted. So I decided to give it a shot.”

Since tiatrs are live plays and can continue for many shows, Ester had to decide and she said, “Im always in for anything in Konkani, and this was a perfect opportunity for me to showcase my talents on Goan Konkani stage. Stage was never a problem for me - being on stage, I was free and it was all organic. I wasn’t worried about my dialect too. But I was worried about coordination – all the other actors were in sync with each other and I was new. But after I met them I knew I was in good hands."
