SUDENTS PLANT MANGROVES ON WORLD OCEANS DAY
On World Oceans Day students and locals gathered around the Vareg Island, Chicalim to plant mangrove sapling across the bank
Over 1,000 saplings of mangroves (including the kandelia candel and rhizophora species) were planted by students of St Joseph College, Cortalim on Wednesday. This initiative was part of the year long mangrove restoration project that commenced on World Environment Day, with the plantation drive at Divar and is organised by the Chicalim Youth Farmers Club, Nisarga Nature Club and Goencho Ekvott
