Students bring Shakespeare’s works alive at this literary fest
Hundreds of Shakespeare-lovers gathered at Parvatibai Chowgule College in Margao on Monday to witness some spectacular performances based on William Shakespeare’s works.
The ninth edition of The Bard Of The Mandovi 2018 – the annual Shakespeare festival organised by the Department of English of the college – saw over 200 students from 13 schools across the state compete in several competitions throughout the day.
The competitive events included Steal-A-Scene, where students enacted scenes from the Bard’s plays, and Shakespearean Soliloquy, where they performed his famous monologues.
From Macbeth, to Merchant Of Venice, Twelfth Night and As You Like It, many of Shakespeare’s most popular productions were cited at the event. Off-stage events included Mozaic, Bedtime Shakespeare and Diorama Drama.
Vidya Vikas Academy, Margao won the overall prize, while Our Lady of the Rosary High School, Dona Paula was placed second and The King’s School, Margao, came third.
