A few citizens from parts of North Goa have joined in the silent
protest in Taleigao since August 15. They are raising their voice against the land-filling in fertile fields in Taleigao. The peaceful protest sees them sitting or standing around the field with playcards, and interacting with passerbys to make them aware of the situation.
Cecille Rodrigues, who's a part of this tells us, "We started this on August 15 since it's symbolic of Independence Day.
People not just from Taleigao but surrounding areas also join us, since they have understood the importance of farming and why there's a need to protect them, When everything was shut during the lockdown, a lot of people got their veggies from these fields, so this is their way of giving back, by helping stop the destruction."
