Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated with pomp and fervour, where devotees gathered on the banks of the river at Narve Bicholim, to seek blessings. The festivities also include a fair, where people buy garlands, traditional khaje sweets and wooden items.
As a tradition, nine dieties are brought to this point, carried in a palanquin procession. Saachi Samusurya Gaonkar, a devotee says, “We take our palki to Narve via the traditional routes, covering a distance of 10 Kms through a forest and takes almost four hours to cover.”
