Coffee! The whipped

coffee

made with just three ingredients has been doing rounds on various social media platforms, with people who are self isolating attempting to make it at home.

From social media the Dalgona coffee has now reached the Goan kitchen with several Goans taking part in the challenge! Jolainne de Souza from Vasco says she discovered that the whipped coffee her brother-in-law was raving about is actually called Dalgona coffee, thanks to the internet and her friends! "The lockdown has left me with so much time, so I decided to try whether the coffee is living up to the hype. I found the recipe on YouTube and decided to make it," she says.

Kuheli Bhatacharya

from Dona Paula says she and her toddler made it at home since every other food blogger was making it. "I decided to make it because I had all the ingredients! A lot of bakes are happening on the internet with the lockdown, but I don't want to be wasting precious commodities on what is not an essential, like a cake. But coffee and tea are still essentials, and drunk everyday, so this didn't seem like such a frivolity.
The recipe is so simple really it's just 1:1:1 ratio of instant coffee, sugar and hot water," she says.

Similarly, Nyeree Viegas from Panaji says, "I came across it on Instagram and wanted to know what's the hype about! I was craving some sweet, a dessert of sorts. But due to the lockdown, I couldn't get my hands on anything, would I decided to make the Dalgona coffee. The recipe was all over my Instagram feed!"

Christopher Fernandes

says, "I generally love coffee and this seemed interesting when I came across it on Instagram."

Did it live up to the hype?
Jolainne says, "It was absolutely delicious - a light and foamy texture with an underlying creaminess. I think it was one of the most satisfying cups of coffee I have ever had. I tweaked mine slightly with some hazelnut essence. Everyone in my family loves it now." Christopher says, "Mine turned out perfect on the first attempt and was rather 'luxurious'."
However, Nyeree says, "It tasted exactly like regular cold coffee! But it was definitely more fun to make and my brother and I enjoyed the whole process of making it. We'd probably make it again!"
