Department of Social Work, Don Bosco College,Panaji, Goa celebrated National Youth Day as a 156
thBirth Anniversary of spiritual leader Swami Vivekananda January 12.
The program was inaugurated by garlanding the photo of Swami Vivekananda and lighting of the lamp and by Fr Joquim Lobo, Manager, Cedric Silveria Principal and Twinkle Fernandes Staff Secretary.
Cedric Silveria Principal of Don Bosco College delivered the welcome address. In his address he highlighted importance of Youth Day and teachings of Swami Vivekananda. He said that younger generation is more creative and development of nation is depends on the development of youth. So every youth have to follow Swami Vivekanada teaching for betterment of the society.
Fr Joquium Lobo addressed the gathering and enlightened the audience about how Swami Vivekananda’s thoughts can inspire youth towards National Integration and for social change. “Only youth can see the change and bring the change so they have to stand for change,” he said. He also said that youth should be an independent thinker and they must take a step of change to see better India.
On this occasion Students of Department of Bachelor of Social Work and Masters in Social Work have organized inter class Rangoli and Painting competition on the theme of Youth For Nation Building. They also had a discussion on ‘Role of Youth in Nation Building in the program of Voice of Youth’. Students form BCA, BSW and MSW Department expressed their views and opinions about development of nation and future of our country.
