, apiarist tells us more about bees and the role they play in pollination. He also focuses on the

medical properties

of honey and its uses. “Today we celebrate one of the smallest insects who play the most important part in our daily life. 75% of our food intake is due of the pollination process. Only because of pollination, a farmer can get a crop,” he tells us.

While honey production is also important, amateur beekeepers are trained not to destroy or harm the bees.

Honey has a lot of medicinal properties from anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and anti- viral. “Many people consume honey as a remedy to prevent cold, cough, and for other ailments. It has properties that boost immunity. I give my children a spoonful of locally sourced honey twice a week. It is also used in various Ayurvedic medications,” informs Maria Fernandes, a teacher from

75% of pollination is done by honey bees which is a great help for farmers, says Suprajit. By their active role in pollination they also determine the quality of the crop “The shape size and color of the fruit is due to the activity of bees."
It's not just the honey and pollination that make the industry of bees so valuable."Bees wax acts as a natural moisturiser, for dried skin and can be used for cracked heels too.”adds Suprajit

He advises people to grow more plants, more trees as monsoon is almost nearing. “Over a period of five years, the number of bees will increase, which will in turn help people. He advises people to tie up with local beekeepers to deliver local honey.”
