From gift box to genius: Melt away your V-Day choco treats
Gift chocolates are a delightful treat, but sometimes the sheer volume we receive can lead to leftovers lingering long after the occasion. Rather than letting those delicious chocolates languish, why not embrace the opportunity to get creative? We spoke to city bakers and chefs to find fun ways to upcycle your Valentine’s Day remains.
Maximise your V-day choco remains
Maximizing your leftover V-day chocolates is a delicious opportunity to get creative and minimize waste. From melting them down for a decadent fondue, to chopping them up and adding them to cookies, brownies, or even muffins, the possibilities are endless. “Use them in smoothies, as an ice cream topping, or make homemade choco spread or bark. They’re great for cake fillings or ganache too,” says Shikha Jain, founder, Crumb & Co. According to Swati Arora, founder of Sugar Story, says, “With rising temperatures, blend leftover chocolates with chilled milk for a refreshing shake.”

Use them in marinades and savouries for a fun twist
Chocolate marinades are a new culinary trend for adding richness to meats. The trend is gaining popularity as chocolate can add savoury notes to dishes. “Dark chocolate works well in savoury dishes like balsamic or rich barbecue marinades. If you love experimenting, chocolates can also be infused into butter or cream-based sauce to create a gourmet touch in both sweet and savoury recipes,” says Muskaan Lodha, head chef at Lavender Gifting and Desserts. It can also be added to chilli and mole sauces.
