Exhibition by Italian artist shows India in series of ephemeral photos

An exhibition of photographs, titled ‘Vibrations between Italy and India-The Contemporary Scene’ by renowned Italian artist, Simona Frillici, which is co-curated by art critic Bruno Cora and curator Reena Dewan, is on at a city art gallery till November 9.
At its core is Simona Frillici’s Vibrations series. Born from her 2020-2024 travels in India, these works depict human reflections on mirrored surfaces. Frillici captures the ephemeral – shadows, fading figures, echoes, and visual waves, suggesting a moment poised on the verge of manifestation.

Floating, semi-transparent fabric installations at the gallery, moved by subtle airflow, reveal the quantum truth: “everything is vibration, energy,” resonating with ancient philosophies.
Hosted in Kolkata and Varanasi, this project aims to spark dialogue between art professionals and audiences, fostering a broader understanding of contemporary reality through cross-cultural engagement.

People leave, but reflections stay. This exhibit is a product of all the things I captured during my multiple visits to India– Simona Frillici
