As the world tunes in to the rousing Chandi Path by Birendra Krishna Bhadra, the city remains hopeful that this Debipokkho is not just about a festival that celebrates Durga’s artistic form, the homecoming of the divine daughter. But a battle cry for the everyday Durgas. Women who have been fighting for their right to live without fear, their heads held high. We walked the streets of Kolkata with Odissi dancer Tithi Das, who has participated in mass movement for women’s rights, justice and the end of evil. Through her mudras, Tithi invokes the strength, power and energy of Durga. ‘Jaago tumi Jaago...’
