Nationwide run ‘Run4Niine’ kicked off from Aurobindo College, Malviya Nagar, in Delhi on the occasion of International Women’s Day to spread awareness on menstrual hygiene. Women volunteers who participated in the run distributed sanitary pads to encourage menstrual hygiene among women. The run took place in more than 500 cities in over 20 states in India. In Delhi, the run was flagged off by Meenakshi Lekhi.

Run4Niine was also supported by Akshay Kumar who took part in the event in Lucknow. Speaking about Run4Niine, Akshay said, “I am excited to partner with the Niine Movement to encourage an open and unashamed discussion on

menstruation

with my fellow citizens, pad heroes, change makers and pathbreakers.”

The run also took place at Leisure Valley, Gurgaon where flag-off event was attended by Kolkata-based Sobhan Mukherjee, who took the pioneering step to install vending boxes for sanitary napkins in various pay-and-use toilets in Kolkata.
