One of the India’s most eligible bachelors, boxer Vijender Singh, tied the knot with his Delhi-based girlfriend Archana Singh on Tuesday afternoon at the Safdarjung Flying Club in the capital. As compared to other celebrity weddings, this one was a low-key affair, with only 30 people present at the do. The guest list included only family members, friends and a few high-profile guests who came to congratulate the couple.
After a simple wedding ceremony, Vijender and Archana came outside and posed for the media. Vijender looked dapper in an off-white sherwani designed by Manav Gangwani, while Archana looked pretty in a scarlet red lehenga by
Tarun Tahiliani. Viju, who happily posed with his bride before the photographers, said, “Thank you so much. Bahut khushi hui ki aap log aaye. Aap sab ka pyaar hi hai jo mujhe is mukaam pe laya hai.”
Viju’s elder brother Manoj was seen sitting next to the groom at the mandap area, helping the pandit with the formalities. The bride’s father, Congress activist Surinder Singh, sat beside former union minister Captain Satish Sharma, and performed kanyadaan. Rahul Gandhi too came to congratulate the couple, but left soon after. “Rahulji had to leave for UP as soon as possible. He just wished the couple and left,” informed a source.
The wedding reception took place at Viju’s native village Kaluwas in Bhiwani yesterday.
