The opening ceremony of the 2012 IYF World Camp, which was organized at the Thyagraj Stadium in the capital last week, was a grand affair. The camp hosted around 2,000 students from all over India and 300 students from abroad.
The opening ceremony started with a cultural programme which had performances by many participating students. Kiran Walia was present at the inauguration ceremony and encouraged the students performing at the event.
The IYF Founder, Ock Soo Park, addressed the gathering here and his funny statements got him a lot of cheering. He said, “Indians have big, lovely eyes. I wonder whether sometimes the flying dust frequently goes in their eyes or not. We (Koreans) have small eyes so we don’t feel the dust ever.”
The highlight of the evening was when a Korean choir sang many popular Hindi film songs like Yeh Dosti Hum Nahin Todhenge and Aashaayen Dil Ki among others.
