Gurgaon was a fitting city in which to stage this play, seeing as it was a depiction of big city life. The Big Fat City, written and directed by Mahesh Dattani, was recently staged in the millennium city. The play was touted as India’s first black comedy and was well received by the audience.

Ashvin Gidwani said that the capital’s audience is a hungry one and there is great scope for development.
“They’re very arty when it comes to theatre, but there are also some who see it as a commercial production,” he said of his expectations from the audience.
