The last of the auditions for Clean & Clear Delhi Times Fresh Face 2010 at Select Citywalk, Saket, started with a bang.As these were open auditions, there were entries from colleges all across Delhi. And boy, did the participants bowl the crowd over with their talent! From showing off their moves to mesmerizing everyone with their singing, these fuchchas did it all.
As the auditions took place in a mall, the participants appealed to the crowd present there to support ’em and with every rocking performance, they sure did get a roaring applause. What’s more, all the participants got shopping vouchers courtesy Select Citywalk.
AYE CHHORI, ZARA NACH KE DIKHA... That’s what this audition started off with, as Nupur from LSR grooved to this number. As the participants walked on the stage and requested for peppy songs to dance to, DJ Sumit Sethi got a chance to give the crowd a dose of Bollywood and Punjabi numbers. The fresh-faced Mahima Sehgal, a fuchcha from Hansraj College’s choreo team, said, “All good things come in small packages, so watch out for me,” and she definitely had the crowd cheering for her when she danced to “Ek Do Teen”. Utsav Malhotra, also from Hansraj’s choreo team, wooed everyone with some locking and popping. And how can any audition not have a drag act? Taking the legacy forward was Tanzeel from IIPM, who danced to “Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai”.
I’M A STREET DANCER! While Atul was dancing to “Gal Mithi Mithi Bol”, we noticed Sunny doing his own act simultaneously in the crowd. Since he was really ‘into it’, showing off some cool moves, emcee Kanishk called him on stage to perform for everyone.
GAATA RAHE MERA DIL... Fresh Face 2010 hai meri manzil! There’ve been participants in colleges who’ve chose to sing, but here, the fuchchas were no bathroom singers. Anureet, a student of Pearl Academy of Fashion, impressed everyone when she sang “Teri Deewani”, and so did Shuchi, a student of Gargi College, when she sang “Waving Flag”. Kanu Paliwal, a student of Ram Lal Anand College, had the crowd jiving with “Maiyya Maiyya”, while Sanchla of Miranda House, dedicated “Yaaron... Dosti” to all her friends. But as every round has its hits and misses, there was one here too, in the form of Kushan, a student of Dayal Singh College. As he sang “Soniyo” in a nasal twang in order to imitate Himesh Reshhamiya, the crowd booed him out.
ISS JAWAAB KA JAWAAB NAHIN! During the Q&A round, the fuchchas batted the volley of questions quite well. Quiz ’em on anything and they were ready. Radio Mirchi’s RJ Safiya asked Sandhya, a student of JMC, whom she’d choose between her boyfriend and the cool gang of seniors in college. “I’d choose my boyfriend,” said Sandhya shyly. Aseem of Sri Aurobindo College was asked what would he do if a boy hit on him, and he grinned and replied, “It has actually happened with me earlier. But if it happens again, I would tell that guy that I already have a boyfriend!” Sandhya and Aseem were adjudged as the winners. When the judges asked Utsav what would he’d do if he and his best friend were in love with the same girl, he was quick to reply, “I would date that girl and find someone else as well!” Utsav and Anureet won the first runners-up titles. When RJ Safiya asked Tanzeel the same question as she asked Aseem, he wittily replied, “I would go on a date with that guy, make him spend a lot of money on me and then break up with him.” Tanzeel and Nupur bagged the second runners-up titles.
