The families of CRPF officers enjoyed some hearty laughs at a recent event organised by CWWA (CRPF Wives Welfare Association). Surendra Sharma’s satirical poetry was enough to crack people up, and also gave them some food for thought. Keeping a straight face, the humorist spoke about the negative attitude of Indians and how we derive happiness from others’ unhappiness.
He spelt out his message, saying, “Khoob hanso, par woh hansi kisi ke aansuon ki keemat par haasil mat karo.”
Suneeta Trivedi, president, CWWA, said, “We’ve started a diamond jubilee lecture series, where we invite eminent speakers from different walks of life. Before this, we had Jairam Ramesh and Shiv Khera as speakers, and this time, we had Surendra Sharma making people laugh. Now, we plan to invite a corporate honcho who will talk to us about how they face situations in corporate houses.”
Sharma was quite happy to interact with the CRPF officers, and told us, “These are people who serve the country, and we are earning here. I’ve performed for the ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police) and have even visited border areas to meet CRPF jawans. The response that you get from them gives you a different high altogether.”
