Sunn rahi hai Dilli: Ankit Tiwari thrills college crowd
Singer-composer Ankit Tiwari performed for an enthusiastic crop of students at Rhapsody, Maitreyi College’s annual festival
Echoes of “Teri galliyan, galliyan teri galliyan” reverberated throughout the sports ground of Delhi University’s Maitreyi College long before singer-composer Ankit Tiwari took centre stage at the college’s annual fest Rhapsody. From performing his hits like Galliyan Returns and Tu Hai Ki Nahi to belting out classics like Lag Jaa Gale and Disco Dancer, Ankit had the crowds captivated and grooving to his tunes.
Ankit, who has performed in Delhi earlier as well, feels that crowds in the capital possess an energy that is unmatched. “Whenever I perform in Delhi, I feel that the audience here loves me a lot! So I’m always pumped up when I perform here.” Talking about college fests and live concerts making a comeback post-COVID, Ankit said, “Live perform karna hi humare liye natural hai. Toh yeh aise hi chalna zaroori hai.”
The Katra Katra singer also paid tribute to the late KK, singing songs like Yaaron and Tujhe Sochta Hoon as he said, “Mere favourite singer thay woh.” Ankit’s wife Pallavi Tiwari also joined the singer on stage and sang Sunn Raha Hai Na Tu, dedicating it to Ankit.
Sivasankari, General Secretary, students’ union, Maitreyi College, said, “Seeing Ankit perform live was so overwhelming for us. My favourite part was the way he interacted with the crowd throughout his performance – there wasn’t a dull moment.”
