Pt Chaturlal's museum inauguration

Pt Chaturlal is famous as the man who introduced Indian drums and percussion instruments to the Western audience. A museum commemorating the life and achievements of the legend was inaugurated by Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit in the city recently.
TO THE LEGEND, WITH LOVE: A string of framed photographs on the walls of the staircase, leading up to the museum, highlighted Chaturlal’s close association with Pt Ravi Shankar.Shruti Chaturlal, the grand daughter of Pt Chaturlal, said, “We invited Shankarji. But he couldn’t make it as he is abroad.” Pt Birju Maharaj said, “It was Shankarji who introduced me to Chaturlal.” Sarangi player Kamal Sabri said, “It feels nice that a museum, dedicated to the life of a musician, has been constructed. It shows the society’s serious concern towards performing arts.”
