NIT-D alumni create a digital bridge for current students
Connect, collaborate and contribute – the ethos that reverberated at the National Institute of Technology Durgapur alumni meet in Delhi. While a chorus of Ekla Cholo Re echoed through the room, a sense of togetherness prevailed as they launched the international alumni association's website and mobile application at the event.
'Feels like being back to college'
Reminiscing his college days, industrialist Rajinder Bagga – from the class of 1970 – said, "Being here, I feel like I’m back at college! I’m happy to be the chief patron of the alumni association and to launch this website made by the students." Bagga, along with NIT Durgapur Director, Arvind Choubey, unveiled the website and app. Aimed at supporting students, the platform provides mentorship opportunities and facilitates community activities with alumni.
'This a link between current students and alumni'
Addressing the purpose of the new website, Arvind Choubey said, "This is my first visit to the NIT-D alumni meet of the Delhi chapter. I've met alumni before but this is a special meet because of our alumni website launch. It is nice that the alumni want to do something for the students of their alma mater. The purpose of the alumni is only to help the institute. The website will be a great link between the students of NIT-D and the alumni."
Meanwhile, Sandeep Kapoor, who is from the 1987 batch and is the President of the international alumni network, spoke about the institute's success, "This website will be based on interaction between the global community, including the alumni who are now settled in different parts of the world," he said.
