“I have always been told how to behave and how not to be in the world and it was only after I stopped listening to all that that I was able to make something of myself,” said Dutee Chand, who earlier this year became the first openly gay Indian athlete. Anjali Lama, who is the first transgender model to walk the ramp at the prestigious India Fashion Week, added, “It’s about time that we talk about the roles women are asked to fit in by the society and I hope this campaign starts some dialogue about it.” Six-time boxing world champion Mary Kom even engaged in some friendly sparring with an audience member before giving all present some quick boxing tips.

Speaking at the event, Abhishek Ganguly, MD, Puma India, said “We believe every woman is a Propah Lady. We appreciate that our ambassadors are taking the lead to work with us in changing the dialogue from ‘empowering’ to ‘celebrating the empowered.”
