Dilliwallahs indulged in a Lebanese feast at the launch of the fast casual food chain, Zizo, in the capital recently. While guests gorged on freshly baked manoushe, shawarma, falafel, hummu, tahini, spicy moutabel and fattoush, the mood was set by Lebanese jazz artist Zeid Hamdan’s foot-tapping numbers and performances by Bashir Saade and belly dancers. Fouad Abdel Malak, CEO and co-partner, Zizo, said, “Traditionally, Zizo (a pet beetle) means a lot to every Lebanese child and it always makes us want to go back to the days when food was always an organic delight, yet rich in flavour. We promise that we will serve the best locally-sourced products, with the best imported grade A and organic produce from Lebanon, like olives, zataar, pomegranate and molasses, among others, at Zizo. Food tastes much better when it’s served with the original ingredients and lots of love.”
