At the launch of Shagun TV, India’s first matrimonial television channel, the guests were welcomed with a traditional pooja thali and mithai.
Anuranjan Jha, MD, Shagun TV, told us, “I have been working on this concept for more than eight years now. In India, where a wedding holds so much significance in everyone’s life, a channel like this is really needed.” Also present here were TV actresses Richa Soni and Utkarsha Naik, both of whom will be anchoring shows on the channel.

Known for her negative characters on TV, Utkarsha will be hosting a show with a social message. She said, “When I was first approached for this show, I thought it’s impossible to show the Indian sasumaa in a positive light. But it’s a great effort. Mere TV ke paap TV pe hi dhul jaayenge.” Chakardhar Dhoundiyal, chairman of Vertent Media said, “I am confident that Shagun Channel will give viewers a deeper and more fulfiling viewing experience. The channel has lots of fresh content and viewers can look forward to it in the coming days.”
