The debut show of artist John Gilbert saw many from the art as well as the fashion fraternity coming in to support the artist’s initiative. The show was inaugurated by designer Rina Dhaka who appreciated the concept of the paintings that were inspired by India. “His designs can be easily be printed on ready-to-wear apparel. I am so inspired by his work,” Rina said.
For the love of Streets: Gilbert’s artwork incorporated three very India words – Prem, Guru and Yoga – in a very modern way. Painted in bold letters and vibrant colours these words were hard to miss. Pop-inspired John said that he loves to bring art to the people. “One of my dreams is to see my art on the walls of the city,” said the artist.
work ke liye: Vandana Vadehra was seen appreciating the artwork. “I like unique and interesting stuff, and John’s work for sure qualifies as out of the box,” she said. Now that she has been in Mumbai for quite some time now, we asked her how staying in a new city? “Well, the transition has been very good. I’m happy that I moved there, as now I’m getting a lot of work opportunities. I’ve even signed a few shows,” Vandana beamed.
