For the second year, Delhi University’s Hindu College organized their hostellers’ alumni meet, which saw more than 350 hostellers in attendance.
Pradeep Loyalka, an alumnus and member of the AHHA (Association of Hindu college Hostel Alumni), took up his post at the gate to welcome the others.
Hanuman, one of the ‘old boys’, called out to his friend Ritesh, shouting, “Oye Litti, idhar aaja!”, and when ‘Litti’ approached, he had water sprinkled on his face.

Hanuman explained, “That’s how we’d welcome freshers at the hostel back in the day.”
Another former hosteller, Nalin Singh, now a writer and actor, was excited to be posing with his friends Ritesh Shah, actors Kranti Prakash Jha and Rajesh Kumar, and Pankaj Kumar Singh. Arrangements were made for the former hostellers to re-occupy the hostel for a night. Also present were the acting principal of the college, Pradumn Kumar; Chandrachur Singh, warden, boys’ hostel; Jai Inder Pal Singh, physical education in-charge, and others. “Unfortunately, other alumni like Imtiaz Ali, Arjun Rampal and Vishal Bhardwaj couldn’t make it because of their busy schedule,” said Loyalka. A qawwali session was organized that night, and it was clear that the ‘old boys’ still had young hearts!
