It was an afternoon of complete masti for the students of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College during the auditions of the Clean & Clear Delhi Times Fresh Face 2011. All the contestants tried their best to impress the judges with their talents despite the oppressive heat, as they knew that the two girls who win this contest get a chance to become the face of Clean & Clear.
Emcee Madhukar Malhotra’s running commentary and DJ Sumit Sethi’s music added to the confidence of the participants. In the introduction round, most students honestly admitted to being hooked to the internet 24/7. This led Madhukar to ask them, “Aisa kya surf karte ho tum log?” DDUC was also probably the only college where there were more singers than dancers in the talent round. The audience also ignored the harsh sun and kept cheering and hooting for all the contestants.
Q&A: In the final round, RJ Stutee from radio partner Radio Mirchi helped test the contestants’ attitude. The clear-skinned Koyal Rana said that she’d prefer a guy who woos her in Hindi rather than a guy who unnecessarily jhadoes English. The confident Abhay Verma, even before he could be asked a question, pointed to a girl in the crowd and said, “If I have to take a girl out on a date, it would be her!” Stutee asked him how he felt when the girl refused to come on the stage to meet him, and he replied nonchalantly, “Koi baat nahin, main neeche jaake mil loonga.” Heena Tahilramani was asked the one thing that was impossible for her to do, and pat came the reply, “Clearing the PMT exam!”
HUM JEET GAYE: At the end of all the three rounds, Koyal was declared the winner among the girls by RJ Stutee, followed by Heena and Kritika Hans, who were the first and second runners-up respectively. Among the boys, Abhay was the winner, followed by Kaustubh Gaurh and Aryan Sahni, who were the first and second runners-up respectively.
