While the aam janta (or the mango people, as they are also called) makes plans for a Holi celebration at home, the city’s glitterati are busy choosing from over a dozen invites for some of the most awaited Holi parties that are happening in the city today. Many have already decided to attend the most talked about Holi bash in Delhi, hosted by Times Group MD,
Vineet Jain. Ramneek Pantal, a regular at the much-talked-about party, says, “The Shivji at Vineet’s party has been a star attraction. However, last year, we didn’t see him, but I hope to see him this year.” Says fashion designer Leena Singh, “It is one of the most happening parties that everyone looks forward to.”
The regulars at industrialist JK Jain’s Holi bash, however, are a disappointed lot, with him not organising a party this year. Carlyta Mouhini, pop singer, who performs regularly at his parties, tells us, “It’s been quite an experience, but unfortunately, he will not be hosting the Holi bash this time. It used to be quite an elaborate affair, but there was no check on who was coming, so this year, he decided not to host it.”
But as they say, ek darwaza band hota hai toh doosra khulta hai (filmi style of course) – Riyaaz Amlani and Shiv Karan Singh are hosting a private party at a South Delhi farm. Besides this, Mumbai-based deejay, DJ Aqeel, will be playing at the Daffodils at Chattarpur Road, where he promises to treat the revellers to some groovy Bollywood hits.
Those who have networking on their agendas, can head towards politician LK Advani’s Holi bash, which is being organised by his daughter Pratibha. “This year we shall have the Holi party at our Prithviraj Road residence. The guests will include party workers, friends and politicians,” said Pratibha.
The LGBT community, which had organised a Holi bash last year at a farmhouse, has opted out of hosting one this year. Said Manish Sharma, a gay activist, “Last year, we had organised one big Holi bash, but unfortunately, we had only 40-50 guests. We had made some elaborate arrangements, but it all went for a toss when people didn’t turn up. So this year, we decided to host only a pre-Holi bash at a club.”
