A group of fitness freaks and professional athletes gathered at Nehru Park at 6am for a run this weekend.Organized by Dr Rajat Chauhan to promote fitness, it had world class athletes participating, including Molly Sheridan and Ray Sanchez from the US, Samantha Gash and Jason Rita from Australia and Catherine Todd from the UAE.
Molly, who is 53 years old.
said, “I started running at the age of 48. Before that I was busy raising kids and working.” When asked if she prefers roads or trails, Molly chose trails, and added, “Delhi roads are like trails.”
Said Dr Rajat Chauhan, the organizer, “The marathon scene in Delhi is improving and we simply want people to celebrate the joy of running. There is no age limit in this sport – in fact, the youngest participant in this run is my five-year-old son and the eldest is 75!”
Jason Rita, who’s from Australia, said, “Normally after a long flight over many hours, you start to feel sleepy. However, I started my Sunday morning with the run. I enjoyed having some Indian delicacies like tandoori aloo and saag and just loved them!”
