Protests all around Delhi are sprouting up every minute, and one such place was the Chhatrasal Stadium, where on Thursday evening, the electricity and water connections were cut off.
But, Anna Hazare supporters continued their protest with the help of candles. The day started with 50 protesters, but the crowd swelled up to 500 by the evening. And the crowd was as diverse as it could get, like school teacher Ayesha Maliwal, whose entire attire was covered in Anna slogans.

Then there was Ramcharan, an auto driver, who was busy handing out candles to those without one outside the stadium. Wearing a Gandhi cap that read “I Am Anna”, he told us, “Aaj mombattiyon ki roshni mein hum dharna denge.” He explained to each protester that the candle was a sacred symbol of the protest, and they must not let the flame extinguish. There were the school and college kids too, who comprised the maximum numbers at the venue, and were there since 12 noon. Slogans like “Yeh sarkar nikammi hain, police ko aage karti hai”, “Abhi tak jiska khoon naa khola khoon nahi woh paani hain, yeh andar ki baat hain police hamare saath hain” and “Desh ki beti kaisi ho? Kiran Bedi jaisi ho,” kept ringing in the air as protesters gave light to each other’s candles.
