How often do we see super seniors from a college playing a friendly cricket match with the current students of the college? That was exactly the sight at Hindu College's ground when Principals' XI faced Alumni XI in a gripping match on the weekend recently. The cricket match, as part of the college's 125 years of celebrations, was played between the alumni and the current students, teachers and faculty.

Giving a tough fight to their super seniors, the current batch of students cheered and also got a few tips from the alumni. Principal Anju Srivastava, who also tried her hand at cricket, shared, "We organised this event as part of 125 years of celebrations. The college has produced many famous cricketers like Gautam Gambhir, Saba Karim, Murali Kartik. Some attended the event, others sent their emotional messages. Our organising committee has worked really hard to organise this event so I would like to congratulate them as well."

Students cheered for both the teams

The event witnessed current students, faculty, and alumni, all united in their love for cricket and their alma mater. Coach and alumnus Arun Bhardwaj, who was also present at the event, told us, "When we used to play in college, we would only think about one thing. Our only goal was to defeat St. Stephen's College in Inter-College final."

Feeling nostalgic about coming back to the college, Bhardwaj added, "Coming back to college always gives you goosebumps. I am very nostalgic and pleased to be here."

After a tough match, the Principals' XI won the cricket match. "Our students are lucky that cricketing stalwarts including Prakash Bhandari, Hari Gidwani, Sunil Valson, Venkat Sunderam, Arun Bhardwaj, Himmat Singh, Vinay Lamba, Surinder Khanna, Murali Kartik, Gursharan Singh, Gautam Gambhir, Deep Dasgupta, Aakash Chopra, Saba Karim, Manvinder Bisla, Ajay Jadeja, Chetanya Nanda and many others, inspire and motivate them from time to time," added the principal.
