The British Council is organising a special screening of Othello for all theatre enthusiasts and culture connoisseurs in the capital. Organisers say that this event will offer a cinematic experience.
Michael Houlgate, Deputy Director India at the British Council, says, "We're excited to be a part of the National Theatre's 60th-anniversary celebration. At the British Council, we aim to share the best of British arts and culture with our Indian audience. We invite everyone to join us in Delhi and Chennai for a special screening of Shakespeare's Othello, a moving story of love, societal pressures, and the fight against prejudice."
The British Council stated in a note, "The modern interpretation of Othello explores the challenges faced by Desdemona and Othello, an interracial couple whose love story takes a tragic turn due to external forces and personal insecurities. With a renowned cast that includes Giles Terera (known for his role in Hamilton), Rosy McEwen (The Alienist), and Paul Hilton (The Inheritance), the rendition promises to captivate the Indian audience."
