Boishali Sinha Massot’s recent art show in the city sure fetched her plenty of compliments from those who came. Her style of painting, which she described as marouflage, was certainly the talk of the show. “It’s a style that I picked up while I was in France. Horses are a prominent presence in this style of painting and I really liked it as I’m highly influenced by nature,” said the artist.

QUICK EXITS: Attending the show was actor Tom Alter, who made a quick exit after lighting the ceremonial lamp. But the other guest of honour, who did grace the show a little longer was politician and animal rights activist, Maneka Gandhi, who took time off from her own art exhibition on Boishali’s request. Art collector Amol Vadhera also left the event early after promising Boishali to meet up soon over coffee to discuss her work.
Art GYAAN: Niren Sen Gupta, an ex-professor at the Delhi College of Art, after appreciating Boishali’s work gave us a little gyaan on art, “It takes years to establish and develop your own distinct style, as the previous influences tend to control your paintings,” said he.
Mistaking me? Gallerist, Asha Spark after seeing the photographer click her picture, came to inform us that she isn’t Aruna Vasudev. “I thought the photographer was clicking me because he thought I was Aruna, who is in fact my cousin. She gets clicked, I don’t,” said Spark. Well, we never fail to capture the spark!
