Balbir host a party in honour of Raj Loomba

HOUSE OF LORDS: The occasion and the gathering were a fairly sedate one – hotelier Balbir Singh Kakar held a dinner party in honour of Raj Loomba, who has recently been elevated from CBE to the House of Lords in the UK.
Friends and family were all gathered to congratulate Loomba, including Vikramjit Singh Sahney. In true Punjabi style, Sahney jazzed up his speech with a dash of desi humour, saying, “Assi Punjabi te saarey lord honde haan.” For the non-Punjabis in the gathering, he translated, “We Punjabis are born lords.”
FRIENDLY TALES: Kakar said he has known Loomba for about 15 years and industrialist DK Jain said that he has known Kakar since their Dyal Singh College days.“We’ve known each other for 48 years now!” he
said. VC Burman also said that he has been friends with Kakar and Loomba for years.
