At the screening of filmmaker Anu Malhotra’s documentary – The Shamans of the Himalayas – the who’s who of the entertainment industry came together. Anu, who till three months back was battling a chronic disease, took a bow amidst a huge roar of applause after her documentary – that chronicled sacred and secret rituals, magic-religious practices, traditional healing methods and exorcism.
Addressing the audience, Anu said, “It is the love and passion for filmmaking that keeps me alive. I have come out of the jaws of death because there is still so much left that I want to accomplish in my life.”
Karan Singh, who was the chief guest at the do, was visibly excited about the subject of the documentary. He said, “Anu’s subject explores the mystic world of rituals and myths of the Kullu Valley, where every village has several resident Gods and Goddesses who are invoked as living deities. And I have great affinity towards both, the culture of India and its religious practices.”
