An action-packed polo day in the city

The Jaipur Polo Grounds witnessed a thrilling grand finale of the Cavalry Gold Cup 2024 recently. With spectators gasping with each shot, polo enthusiasts, young players and friends turned up to spend their Sunday afternoon witnessing the exciting match. Lt Gen Vivek Kashyap, Director General of Armoured Corps, was the chief guest at the event. The winning team lifted the trophy with a final score of 7-5 after four intense chukkers.

Naveen Jindal remembers former top player HS Sodhi
Former top polo player HS Sodhi, popularly known as Billy Sodhi (86), passed away late on Saturday. Remembering the veteran player, Naveen Jindal during the prize distribution ceremony, said, “About six years ago, at a party he (Col Sodhi) came up to me. He used to teach me polo and he told me, ‘Naveen. I am ashamed of you’. I was taken aback. He said, ‘I see when you are playing, they have a reserve for you. You only play two chukkers and then the two are played by the reserve. I had coached you, and I don’t feel good about it.’ So, I told him okay, I will play the whole game. Thanks to Col Sodhi, who motivated me to be able to play.”
