Ashvin Gidwani Productions, (AGP), the producers of several blockbuster theatre productions, are bringing yet another extraordinary out-and-out entertainer – “Get Rid Of My Wife” to Delhi.Directed by Paritosh Painter, who has carved a niche for himself in films, theatre and television, “Get Rid of My Wife” promises to be comedy theatre at its best. Painter has been the driving force behind comedy films like “Paying Guest” and “Dhamaal” in the past, and is also well known for plays such as “Whose Wife Is It Anyway?”, “See No Evil Hear No Evil”, and “Dil Maange More”, amongst others. His latest, “Get Rid of My Wife” is a rib-tickling roller coaster ride. The play tells the story of three physically challenged friends – Shree, Adi and Manav – who live together. While one friend is blind, the other one is deaf and the third is mute. Add to this motley crew, a wily creditor named Mario, who is essentially a goon hired to recover debts from the three friends, and you have one intriguing plot. After realising that the three friends will be unable to repay their debts to him, Mario offers them a job to kidnap a rich industrialist’s wife.
What follows after that is a comic journey full of twists and turns. Staged in two acts, the play is an entertainer for audience of all ages. The producer of the show, Ashvin Gidwani, says “We all need humour to unwind from the monotonous daily grind, and Paritosh Painter’s work is definitely one answer to that conundrum.”The cast of the play includes established film and television stars Delnaaz Paul, Nasir Khan, Balvinder Singh Suri, Jayesh Thakkar, Kishwar Merchant, Nilanjana Singh and Paritosh Painter himself. The play will be staged on Sunday, March 25, at the Siri Fort Auditorium, Delhi.
