A session on Urdu organised in Delhi

A day-long celebratory festival "Aadaab: Celebrating

Urdu

" was organised in the capital recently.This year’s programme saw popular names of Urdu writers and poets showcasing their thoughts on the revival of the language, the role of social media and the scope of Urdu drama in theatre platforms. Participating speakers included Anisur Rahman, Dr. Urshila Chanana, Dr. Saif Mahmood, Asghar Wajahat, SukritaPaul Kumar, Noor Zaheer amongst others.

The sessions saw the speakers discussing the revival of Urdu, the role of social media and the young generation’s role in it. The introductory note was followed by a session on Urdu Dramatics with none other than

, Sayeed Alam in conversation with Syed Alam. RJ Sayema recited selected nazms and ghazals while Saif Mahmood read his selection of nazms of his favourite poets in the following session. Jahan E Ismat a session with

Sukrita Paul Kumar

and Noor Zaheer in conversation saw the speakers sharing “Ismat k Kisse” followed by melodious Ghazals by

Ashutosh Sharma

and Shabaab Khan.
The festival ended with musical performance by Ashutosh Sharma and Shabaab Khan and

dastangoi
